At Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship, we believe in the potential of all people. Everyone has the right to experience similar activities as their neuro-typical and physical-typical peers. We are committed to improving the lives of individuals impacted by disabilities and unique challenges through equine-assisted services.

Per the 2018 Disability Statistics Annual Report, approximately 12.6 percent of the US population is impacted by a disability. Locally, 13.5 percent of the population in Indiana is impacted; 17.3 percent in Kentucky; and, 14.1 percent in Ohio. Our patients and participants reside throughout the greater Cincinnati region, which includes the following counties: Dearborn, IN; Franklin, IN; Ohio, IN; Boone, KY; Bracken, KY; Campbell, KY; Gallatin, KY; Grant, KY; Pendleton, KY; Brown, OH; Butler, OH; Clermont, OH; Clinton, OH; Hamilton, OH; Warren, OH; and Wilmington, OH.

Clients at Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship may be impacted by autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, development delay ADD/ADHD, stroke, sight/hearing deficits, or mental health challenges, among other disabilities and challenges, and often in combination.

Equine-assisted services address these and other physical, cognitive or emotional needs through rewarding interactions with members of our herd. For instance, experiencing the rhythmic motion of a horse can be greatly beneficial. Riding a horse moves the rider’s body in a manner similar to a human gait, allowing riders with physical needs to improve their flexibility, balance and muscle strength. For individuals with emotional and social challenges, the unique relationship formed with a horse can lead to increased confidence, patience and self-esteem.

Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship is the only local organization it be recognized by PATH, International as a Premier Accredited organization for excellence in equine-assisted activities and therapies. Our partners at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, the nation’s #2 pediatric hospital, recommends our hippotherapy program for patients who may have plateaued in their ongoing care or in the clinical setting and/or who may have severe complex diagnosis. We are the only organization in a 200-mile radius to host hippotherapy.

The generosity of our supporters and investors, like you, sparks hope through inclusive horsemanship. Proceeds benefit the care and safety of the herd, from feed and shavings to truck tires and trailer maintenance. Any size gift makes an impact!

Thank you!
