Give Like A Mother

Founded in 2018 by Amy Vann, Give Like A Mother exists to support kids experiencing clothing insecurity.  The mission is to ensure that children in our community have appropriate clothing needed to provide safety, comfort, and higher self-worth.  We serve children from birth through high school graduation (typically age 18).  We collect clothing donations from the community and turn those into clothing PACKs (Personalized, Age-appropriate, Confidence-boosting, Kits).  Families are invited to request clothing through an online form and clothing PACKs will be ready for distribution within 2 weeks of the request.  Clothing PACKs can be requested each season, so 4 times per year, and always include seasonally appropriate clothing items. 

Data shows that 2 in 5 US kids do not have the clothing, shoes, coats, jackets, socks, and underwear they need.  To put that into perspective, in a classroom of 30 children, 12 of those kids don't have the clothing they need to thrive.  

In 2018, Give Like A Mother distributed 250 clothing PACKs to kids in need.  Each PACK includes 5 seasonally aligned outfits, 1 pair of shoes, 1 pair of pajamas, 1 coat or jacket, and all new socks and underwear.  The organization continues to grow to meet the needs of our community and proudly distributed 4,451 clothing PACKs in 2025 and are on track to reach a total of 6,000 PACKs for kids in 2026.  

Our ask is simple: we take your gently used clothing and give it new life, transforming what might have been tucked away in a drawer into confidence for a child who needs it most.

But we can’t do it alone. Not every item can be donated, and that’s where your generosity steps in. The essentials that don’t come through our doors—like new socks, underwear, shoes, or sensory-friendly clothing—are purchased to ensure no child is left out and every PACK feels personal, complete, and full of dignity.
