Mental Matters Mission

Mental Matters Mission/The Marty and Bob Jacobs Foundation’s only goal is to fund the mental health therapy of young people up to age 25 who are uninsured or underinsured. We are committed to removing the financial barrier to therapy in order to ensure that all children have the opportunity to become mentally healthy and confident adults.

Our young people have more challenges than ever before with social media, access to drugs, trying to fit in, poverty, housing insecurity, unstable family lives and other traumas that many of us cannot even imagine.
What do parents and caregivers do when their kids are in crisis and it costs 100-200 a session to get therapy? and it probably takes 10+ sessions on average to get help??  

This is where we come in!

We collaborate with social workers, case managers, school counselors -in other words, those who know a child’s entire social picture-who can identify for us those children who are in need of therapy, but whose families cannot afford it-can you imagine knowing that your child is suffering and could even potentially hurt themselves and not be able to afford the care they need? So many of the children we have helped so far are from single parent families-it is so isolating and frightening to navigate a mental health concern with your child-must less worrying about how you are going to pay for it!

We also do not choose or refer to any therapist-the child and family pick the therapist with whom they can identify with and form a strong connection to make therapy successful. 

Some amazing facts! We  currently are funding or have funded the mental health care of 9 students in 3 different public school districts and 6 different schools! We have 3 more students who may need our financial help!  We have had meetings with multiple other nonprofits such as 1N5, Best Point, Madi's House, Interact for Health, Mental Health America, OGB, Sycamore Bridges, ESC of Hamilton County, 988 Initiative and Ben Morrison Memorial Fund to better understand how we can make the most significant impact!

We plan on meeting with even more school districts going forward!!
