Tender Mercies

A nonprofit organization

Mission: Tender Mercies transforms the lives of homeless adults with mental illness by providing security, dignity, and community in a place they call home.

Tender Mercies provides permanent, affordable housing and services to adults with mental illness experiencing homelessness. We foster an environment that helps residents recover from a life on the streets, and rebuild their self-confidence, health, and independence.

With the support of many donors, Tender Mercies provides a cost-effective home in Over-the-Rhine and the West End to nearly 200 men and women each year.

Through wellness programs, social and recreational activities, counseling and workshops, and aftercare services, residents build a foundation of knowledge and skills they need to become self-sufficient and re-engage with their community.

1,000 individuals experience homelessness every night in Hamilton County. 45% also struggle with mental illness. With a severe shortage of affordable homes, our region is faced with a housing crisis.  It costs more than $40,000 a year to keep someone alive on the streets. Tender Mercies provides a safe and comfortable home for less than $50 a day.
