Wheels Transportation, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

$6,774 raised by 20 donors

Wheels Transportation Inc. takes donated cars, repairs them, and gives them away to people in a transportation crisis.

We have given away almost 1700 cars to families in a transportation crisis - averaging more than 100 cars per year for more than a decade.   In 2025, we expect to help more than 125 families have their own personal transportation that they would not otherwise have.

We need your help to help us help more people.  It takes about $1,000 per car for us to repair it to good working condition.

Imagine the last month of your life, and all the different ways you used a car to make your life function:  Going to and from work, getting children to schools and sports, grocery shopping, doctor visits, running errands, visiting friends, going out to eat, and more.  Now imagine not having your own car to do those things.  How much would your life be impacted?  What challenges would you face?  Could you use the bus system?  Borrow from friends and family?  Pay Uber?

Studies show access to personal transportation is a critical factor for improving employment, education, healthcare, and social mobility for low-income individuals. Without reliable transportation, many struggle to escape cycles of poverty due to limited access to essential resources and opportunities.

We work with a number of partners who help people with opportunities and advancement to get out of poverty or get through a crisis.   This includes several churches, nonprofits, and employers.  These partners determine who will be the new owners of the cars we repair.  Our current partners are The Care Center in Loveland, The Conduit Apprenticeship Program, Crossroads Church, The Healing Center in Springdale, JBM Packaging, The Life Center in Cleves, and Nehemiah Manufacturing.  Through these partners, we are helping people coming home from incarceration, overcoming addictions, dealing with extended health and employment issues, escaping abusive relationships, overcoming barriers created by broken homes and chronic financial challenges, and many more scenarios.  People working to make a change for the better, but lacking a way to get reliable personal transportation on their own.
