The MDM has been serving motherless daughters internationally for over 25 years. Some have deceased mothers; some have living mothers. Some have lost a mother through death; some have experienced emotional absence, and some have experienced mothers who have (had) narcissistic characteristics. You do not have to have mother death to experience mother loss.
Mother loss knows no limitations. It affects women of all ages, ethnicities, religions, and cultures. Mother loss does not discriminate. Almost every woman will be motherless at some time in her life. Often, women have not received mothering due to loss or lack of nurturing.
Most motherless women need a place to go where it is safe to grieve, a safe place to land. That place must provide empathy and understanding; this is the Motherless Daughters Ministry. Our volunteers and leaders have been where they are. We have walked in their shoes.
